Branches Park Wedding Photographer

Branches Park is one of the newer venues I work at, and it feels completely different from the usual Suffolk barn. It's a family-run, 1,500-acre estate at Cowlinge, near Newmarket, with ancient oaks, woodland and big open parkland.

About Branches Park

You can marry indoors in the Long Barn, with its exposed brick and vaulted ceiling, or outside in the Woodland Glade or on the Farmhouse Lawn. After that there's the thatched Breeze House and drinks in the courtyard, then dinner and dancing in the Shoot Barn. It takes 110 guests for the ceremony and dinner, and up to 200 in the evening. The Farmhouse and Pond Barn sleep over 20 between them, including a honeymoon suite and a preparation room, so plenty of couples make a weekend of it.

Where the best photos are

  • The Woodland Glade. Soft, dappled light under old trees, lovely for a ceremony and for portraits.

  • The parkland and ancient oaks at golden hour. There's so much space that you never feel crowded, and it's a brilliant estate for drone footage, with the venue's OK.

  • The Long Barn. Brick and a vaulted ceiling give warm, characterful photos.

  • The Breeze House and courtyard. Relaxed drinks reception photos.

  • The fire feast tipi. Great atmosphere once it gets dark.

Planning your photos at Branches Park

It's a big estate, so pick two or three spots for portraits in advance and I'll plan the timings around them. For a woodland ceremony, the light under the trees can be patchy in the middle of the day, so talk to me about your ceremony time. If rain threatens an outdoor ceremony, the Long Barn is the obvious backup.
