Laura & Nicole's Woodland Wedding at Wellington Wood, Norfolk
Updated: Sep 22
Laura and Nicole's wedding at Wellington Wood was about as relaxed as weddings get: an open-air ceremony in the trees, an evening in the tipis, and a band nobody there will forget in a hurry.

The venue: Wellington Wood
Wellington Wood is an outdoor woodland venue at Northwold, on the edge of Thetford Forest in Norfolk. The ceremony area is out in the open among the trees, and the reception and evening party happen in tipis, which get very cosy once the light goes.

A celebrant-led ceremony in the woods
Their ceremony was led by celebrant Po Midwinter, so it could be as personal as they wanted. Saying your vows outside, surrounded by trees, has a calm feel to it that's hard to get indoors.
For photos, woodland gives you soft, dappled light, but it can also get quite dark under the canopy. It's worth talking to your photographer about the time of your ceremony so the light is on your side.

Clann an Drumma
When it got dark, the Scottish tribal band Clann an Drumma took over: drums, pipes and a packed dance floor. Brilliant to photograph, and a complete contrast to the quiet ceremony earlier in the day.

Thinking about Wellington Wood?
If you want a wedding that feels outdoorsy and informal, it's a great choice. Plan for the weather, bring layers for the evening, and give yourselves some time to wander the woods for portraits.
