Hayley and Joel's celebration at Milsoms in Dedham had been delayed, like so many weddings around that time, so it was great to finally see it happen.
About Milsoms
Milsoms is a relaxed, contemporary bar and brasserie with 15 bedrooms, part of the Milsom family of hotels and restaurants. It's in Dedham, right in the middle of Constable Country on the Essex and Suffolk border, and not far from me at all.
It has terraced gardens and a covered, heated terrace, so there's somewhere to be outside whatever the weather is doing. That's handy for drinks and for photos. There are private dining rooms too, which suit smaller celebrations.
Photographing a celebration at Milsoms
Milsoms suits couples who want something informal. There's no big set piece, so the photos are more about the people: friends catching up, drinks on the terrace, speeches over dinner. The Dedham Vale countryside around it is some of the prettiest in the area, which gives you a lovely backdrop if you want a few couple portraits.
