How Much Does a Wedding Photographer Cost in Suffolk?
"How much does a wedding photographer cost?" is usually one of the first things couples ask me, and fair enough. It's one of the bigger lines in the budget, and prices online are all over the place. So here's a straight answer for Suffolk, with my own prices included so you don't have to go digging.

The short answer
Bridebook's 2026 wedding report puts the UK average for wedding photography at £1,484. Wedissimo, looking at photographers in the East of England, puts a full day in Suffolk at around £1,190. In practice, most couples I speak to are spending somewhere between £1,000 and £2,500 for a full day, and more if they add video or an album.
Averages hide a lot, though. Here's roughly how it breaks down.
What you'll find in Suffolk
Under £1,000 for a full day is usually someone newer to weddings, or doing it alongside another job. There's real talent at this level, but check they've photographed whole weddings on their own, not just second shot for someone else. Ask to see complete galleries rather than a highlights reel.
Between £1,000 and £2,000 is where most established Suffolk wedding photographers sit. At this level you should expect full-day coverage, backup kit, insurance, a proper edit and a clear contract.
Above £2,000 usually means something extra is included: an album, a second photographer, video, or simply a photographer with a long track record and a style you can't get elsewhere.
What you're actually paying for
The wedding day is the part you see. Eight or nine hours on my feet, from getting ready through to the first dance. It's a fraction of the job.
Before the day there are emails, a planning call and help with your timeline. Afterwards there's backing everything up, going through a few thousand frames to find the ones worth keeping, and editing each of those properly. The edit takes a lot longer than most couples expect.
Then there's the stuff you hope never matters. Spare cameras, spare cards, insurance, and a plan if something goes wrong on the day. When a price looks too good to be true, one of these has usually been left out.

Photography, or photography and video?
Most wedding suppliers in Suffolk do one or the other, so couples who want both end up booking two people who've never met. I do both, with a small team I work with regularly. That means one point of contact, one plan for the day, and photos and film that look like they belong together.
If you're unsure about video, filming the ceremony and speeches is a good place to start. They're the parts of the day people most often wish they could watch again. Have a look at my videography page for examples.
Questions worth asking any photographer
Can we see two or three complete weddings, start to finish?
What happens if you're ill on the day?
How long until we get our photos?
Are you insured, and will we get a contract?
Have you worked at our venue before?
A good photographer will be happy to answer all of these. If someone gets cagey, that tells you something too.
